Local

We believe that if we are truly obedient to the Gospel then Lubbock should be impacted by us being here because as believers we are commanded to love our neighbors. Members at Redeemer serve the city in various ways. If you are looking for an opportunity to serve then please use the list below as a guide for where to start. The following list is not all inclusive and ways that Redeemer members are serving the poor, the needy and lost are being created almost weekly. Here are some of them.

University Ministry

Our University Ministry is serving the Texas Tech campus by committing to being on mission together every day as we attend classes, study in the library, work out at the rec center, and eat lunch in the dining halls. What we mean by this is we want every student in our ministry to live, serve, and love the campus and their peers like Jesus has loved us. We also have adopted different dorms across the campus that we serve by going door to door to take out trash, hosting events, and having weekly bible studies that we call "on-campus groups" in the dorm lobbies. For more information about our On-Campus Groups or our Campus Ministry check out the university page.

Parsons Elementary

Parsons Elementary is in the heart of our neighborhood at the corner of 58th and Elgin. Redeemer has adopted this school and neighborhood and serve it by serving the staff, students, and families at Parsons. If you are interested in helping out and serving Parsons, contact Peter Poff at 806-831-8712 or email to cefofthesouthplains@suddenlink.net.

Volunteer Areas:

Reading Helper: Parsons has 16 classrooms and we strive to have a reading helper in each room. Volunteering in this way means that you would to go Parsons every other week for about 45 minutes in order to provide the children some one on one time and help that is often impossible to do with a full classroom! This volunteer area requires a quick LISD screening check to be done prior to serving.

Caring for Teachers: We want to love and serve the teachers at Parsons. Throughout the school year, we send notes of encouragement, help them collect school supplies, provide an avenue for prayer requests, weekly coffee, and help out with special events.

Good News Club: You can also volunteer to help with the weekly, afterschool program, the Good News Club. This club meets at Parsons and involves about an hour a week filled with playing games, singing songs, and teaching the Bible to the students. This time also affords opportunities to visit with the parents of these kids who often do not have a church home that cares for them! This volunteer opportunity requires a screening process done through Child Evangelism Fellowship.

Child Evangelism Fellowship

Child Evangelism Fellowship, CEF of the South Plains has multiple opportunities for sharing the gospel with children. This group hosts the Good News Club (see above). You can join an existing team, or start your own Club,  and times and days are flexible; training is provided.

Additionally, if you are in Lubbock during the summer you can participate in weeklong 5 Day Clubs. For more information about CEF contact Peter Poff at 806-831-8712 or cefofthesouthplains@suddenlink.net.
