Thailand
Midterm Trip
Trip Information
Vision
Spend 8 weeks in the vibrant city of Chiang Mai, nestled among lush mountains and valleys, and serving as a gateway to some of Thailand's most stunning natural landscapes. Immerse yourself in the rich cultural experience of northern Thailand, where you'll savor unique local cuisine, such as Khao Soi and Sai Oua, found in bustling markets and street stalls.
During your time in Chiang Mai, you will be equipped with practical training on how to navigate the city, engage in meaningful conversations, and share the gospel with locals. Once trained, your team will spend much of the time independently, exploring the city and campus, building relationships with the community.
For the guys, sports like basketball and soccer offer a fantastic way to connect with locals. If you're passionate about playing sports, this midterm opportunity will provide a fun and natural way to form relationships with Thai men while sharing your faith.
What's Expected
We expect participants on the midterm trip to be proactive and self-motivated. Much of the time, your group will be given ministry tasks and opportunities that require you to navigate the city independently, engage with locals, and share the gospel on your own.
As with all of our trips, flexibility is essential. You’ll need to be adaptable and ready to embrace a changing schedule.
You will stay in a small Thai apartment that will include very firm beds, a small common area and a small kitchen. You will get to spend time with and learn from Goers but much of your ministry time will be spent with your Redeemer team out with locals.
Typical Day Includes
- Arrival: Settling in and getting adjusted to the timezone and culture, getting to know the long term team, and waiting for other summer 8-week teams to arrive.
- First Few Days: Begin with orientation and training led by the local team. This includes cultural immersion and learning effective strategies for sharing the gospel. You’ll also have time to learn to navigate the city! Lots of time with the long term team to get to know the country.
- Mornings: You will have slower mornings and there will be time to rest and abide really well.
- Afternoons: Engage with college students, develop relationships with them, and initiate spiritual conversations. Wanting to love Thai college students really well!
- Evenings: Evenings will be spent with friends that have been made and pouring into them, or spending time with the long term team to see what their lives look like on the field!
